    If your eyesight was both 10/20, would you do lasik?
    If you had 10/20, 10/20 eyesight, would you just wear glasses when you fly or would you do LASIK and not wear glasses when you fly?

    I’m talking about Commercial pilot

    Just suppose you were in my situation. What way would you choose?

      There are potential problems that can hinder your ability to see well and the only minor surgery is surgery on someone else. That being said, if you choose to have surgery, you will be grounded until your eye doc writes a letter stating that your eyes are stable post op and what your final correction has been. Take this letter to your AME and pass his eye test and he can reissue you without the restriction. You could also deal directly with OKC by mail or fax.

    I have 20/300 vision and I need to get my eyesight to 20/10 what can I do?
    My eyesight is terrible right now and I can’t read things 10ft away.I will have to find a solution in a few years so I can enter my great country’s United States Marine Corps. Can you help me find some help so I can fight for my country. I perfer only natural ways to restore my eyesight please. Thanks. God bless america

    What would perfect eyesight be?
    When I was about 9 years old, I was told that I had 20/10 eyesight after an examination. I thought 20/20 was perfect.

      By looking at lots of people, eye doctors have decided what a “normal” human being should be able to see when standing 20 feet away from an eye chart. If you have 20/20 vision, it means that when you stand 20 feet away from the chart you can see what the “normal” human being can see. In other words, if you have 20/20 vision your vision is “normal” A majority of people in the population can see what you see at 20 feet.

      If you have 20/40 vision, it means that when you stand 20 feet away from the chart you can see what a normal human can see when standing 40 feet from the chart. That is, if there is a normal person standing 40 feet away from the chart and you are standing only 20 feet away from it, you and the normal person can see the same detail. 20/100 means that when you stand 20 feet from the chart you can see what a normal person standing 100 feet away can see. 20/200 is the cutoff for legal blindness in the United States.

      You can also have vision that is better than the norm. A person with 20/10 vision can see at 20 feet what a normal person can see when standing 10 feet away from the chart.

      Hawks, owls and other birds of prey have much more acute vision than humans. A hawk has a much smaller eye than a human being but has lots of sensors (cones) packed into that space. This gives a hawk vision that is eight times more acute than a human’s. A hawk might have 20/2 vision!

    I just curious. I know that the human eye can get visions 20/10 which is better than 20/20.

    But how bad can eyesight get at its worst?

    What is the best human eyesight ever recorded? How precise can you make your eyesight with any form of surgery (Lasik, Lasek, etc).

    Anyone who writes 20/20 is an idiot. I’ve seen confirmed medical reports of 20/10. I was wondering if it’s possible to go down to as low as 20/5.

      The best human vision is 20/10. This is the minimal spatial resolution that individual photoreceptor cells on your retina can detect. Very few people are able to achieve this.

      With LASIK, you can get vision as good as 20/10 but 20/20 is a more realistic expectation.
